75th Anniversary Collection, 1893-1972.

The collection, 1893-1972 and undated, consists of correspondence, meetings minutes and agendas of the Central Michigan University (CMU) 75th Anniversary Advisory Committe and 75th Anniversary Awards Screening Committee, as well as materials they generated, including: faculty announcements, historical marker materials, historical sketches of CMU, newspaper articles, publications, and souvenirs. The committees also sponsored a history of CMU compiled by Dr. Rolland H. Maybee. His reference materials, text, photographs, note cards, drafts of various chapters, and recordings compose the majority of the collection. Some papers of John DeCarlos, Vice-president, Public Services; Wilbur E. Moore, Vice-president, Academic Affairs; William B. Boyd, President of CMU; and Michigan Senator Robert P. Griffin are also found in the collection. Correspondence with and biographical materials about Roger Allen, architect of many of CMU's buildingsare also included. Allen was one of the honorees of the anniversary celebration.

Rolland Harper Maybee was born on January 6, 1901 in Ypsilanti, Michigan to Harper C. Maybee (1876-1954) and Blanche Maybee (1879-1970). During World War II, Moore (1904-1988) served in India in the ICSATC, the U.S. Air Force's India-China Wing Air Transport Command, 1942-1945. The Advisory Committee developed plans for major events, publications, re-dedications of campus buildings, presentations, and a historical marker for CMU's 75th Anniversary.
